Sealed shaft on the prominent hillock on the east end of Longcliffe Vein above Cowlow Nick. Reputed to be very old, and likely to have been one of the first shafts on Longcliffe Mine, it was descended once in 1909 by members of the Derbyshire Pennine Club, after they demolished the large beehive cap that once topped it. The shaft was described as egg-shaped, 180 feet deep, and very loose and dangerous. A large chamber half-full of rubble was at the base, but no way on was found. It is unclear whether the shaft was backfilled, but it is completely covered over and inaccessible. The remains of a gin circle are alongside the shaft.
