Cadeby Pot

Entrance of Cadeby Pot

Access

See "Northern Caves", Vol. 1 (1988) for description, grading & survey. Details also in YSS Journal, Vol.1, 1988. No known access restrictions. Both RIGS. The information detailed below is taken from the 1997 RIGS Survey by Tony Gibbs of the Derbyshire Caving Association.

Close to the old Earth Centre. No immediate threats. Approaches are difficult in wet weather. Explored in 1974 as part of the Yorkshire Speleological Society survey. Located about 500m west of the railway viaduct along a disused railway line, and 200m beyond the small footbridge. The cave is three-quarters of the way up the side of the cutting, and is difficult to find, but aim for the area of slope with the least vegetation with a vague path on it. The two entrances are about 10m apart, separated by gorse bushes. The east entrance is very tight, and not passable by many cavers, and difficult to reverse out of - if in doubt, use the west entrance. Handline and/or ladder recommended.
