In the lower end of the prominent opencut at the eastern end of the mine site. From Upperdale, follow the track over the River Wye and up past the former station. Trips undertaken without prior permission from Chatsworth Estates are unauthorised. No formal agreement yet in place to administer access to either of these sites. The mine was also known as Monsaldale Spar Mine.

Grid reference for Boothlee Mine is SK163 728, with description & survey dated 1976 in SUSS Journal, Vol 2, No 5. Boothlee Mine lies in Wye Valley SSSI. Railway track entrance is at SK 1792 7187, but blocked inside with concrete.
